Project 9: Silhouettes Textures

For this project you are going to create a silhouette, much as you did before, but instead of filling the silhouette with solid black, you are going to fill it with a texture that you photograph yourself.

To begin, you will need:

SUPPLIES

  • A silhouette. (The one you used from project 8 will be fine)
  • A photo of an interesting texture.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Open your silhouette file.
  2. Create a new LAYER.
  3. Place the texture in this layer. (FILE-PLACE)
  4. Stretch the placed file so it completely covers the silhouette.
  5. Click the check box.
  6. Hide the texture layer by clicking the eye.
  7. Click on the BACKGROUND layer and use the MAGIC WAND to select the silhouette.
  8. When you see the marching ants, select the texture layer. You will see a selection the same shape as your silhouette.
  9. Go to SELECT-INVERSE
  10. Make the texture layer visible by clicking on the EYE.
  11. Go to LAYER-RASTERIZE-SMART OBJECT
  12. Hit the BACKSPACE key on the keyboard.

You should have a texture that is also a silhouette! Great job!
