Project 33: Camera Raw

Editing is an essential component of photography; it's what turns a good photo into a great photo. Today, you will follow along with me as we edit the same photo together using Photoshop's CAMERA RAW FILTER, which is my preferred way to edit photos.

HISTORY:

Even before computers and Photoshop came around people were still editing their photographs. In the darkroom, you could increase or decrease the time the enlarger bulb would stay on to make your print darker or brighter. You could also do a thing called burning and dodging. Burning and dodging is a technique used when you want one area of your image to be a different brightness than another. The artist would create a cut-out using black paper and hold it over the area that wanted to be darker and slightly move it around for a certain amount of time. This limited the amount of light that would hit the paper making it darker. That's why the brightening and darkening tools in Photoshop are called dodging and burning.
